We just got back from Acapulco.  What makes this special is that we took Areli’s sister Abigail with us.  Some of you know Abigail’s story.

Shortly after her “quinceñera” (15th birthday), she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia.  During the past 5 years, she has suffered much—countless bone marrow biopsies and intrathecal procedures, various treatments of chemotherapy, long hospitalizations, periods of strict isolation, radiation treatments, and eventually a bone marrow transplant from her sister Merari.  After many challenges for her and her loved ones, she is now doing very well.  She is in complete remission and she was able to make up classes and graduate from high school and has now completed her first semester of medical school.

God has answered many prayers and given her and her family the faith, strength, and hope that only He can give throughout this process.  We are so thankful that her life has returned to “normality” and we hope in the Lord and pray that it will continue to be this way.  Her greatest challenges now revolve around being a first-year medical student in Mexico City while serving her Lord and Savior in all that He has for her.

We are grateful to the Lord that for the first time since this all of this happened, she was able to leave the city and join us for a special trip to the beach.
