A couple of months before we left Michigan, Rebekah was working on making rubber band bracelets that we could use to share the Gospel in Canillá.  Before the Saturday clinic, we explained what they were and gave them away.  The five colors each have meanings:

Black—Sin

Red—Blood

White—Cleansing

Green—Growth

Gold—Heaven

I explained the colors and the corresponding Bible verses in Spanish and Pastor Armando translated into the Quiché language.  Thankfully, he was there to do this because there were a lot of Quiché speakers that day.  Then Rebekah and Zabdi walked around and gave a bracelet, explanation card, and a Gospel tract to each young person.

Here is a sample video from the talk.  John 3:16 in Spanish and Quiché:

The Spanish is read from the Reina Valera Revised 1960 version of the Bible. The Bible has been translated into at least one version of the Mayan language Quiché but not the variation of the language most spoken in the area of Canillá. Therefore the Quiché translation of John 3:16 is from Pastor Armando.
