Monday and Tuesday, Areli and I spent out time in the hospital. Not admitted to the hospital (thankfully), but helping out at Hospital Buen Samaritano in Chichicastenango. Areli's main job was to babysit for Dr. Heidi Bell's six-week-old daughter Micah while she operated and saw patients. My job was a mix of helping in surgery and helping to babysit. These were a couple of long days filled with some difficult surgeries but we are thankful we could be a part of making them happen. And we are thankful for everyone who helped out in their various roles. I won't post any cool "gross" pictures here but if someone else does, I'll post the link.

Heidi and her husband Matt were our predecessors here in Guatemala. Now Heidi brings a small team down four times a year to do gynecological surgeries and consults. We love having a specialist to whom we can send possible surgical and otherwise complicated gynecologic cases.

Monday, we also saw some of our (and Agape's) other old friends, Dr. James and Kathleen Street, as they stopped by the hospital briefly on their way from the airport. They are the founders of the work we do here which was later formed into the ministry Agape In Action. As of Monday, they have moved back to Quiché long-term. We were especially thankful to have them with us today in the clinic in Chicabracan as there were fifty-one patients--a record number for that clinic since we have been here.

As I mentioned a week ago, things are going to get busier up until we head to Michigan in June. In the midst of this, I need to keep the running schedule so I don't die at the BIG Run for the One.
