I’m writing from the Miami airport on my way home and would like to finish with this story.  Yesterday, I saw a young Mayan lady who had some physical complaints in her abdomen.  As I got more of the story translated through my nurse/Quiché translator.  She said she was not sleeping at night.  She also had what I understood to be a vision of seeing her aunt split in half while she was walking down the road.  Finally, she herself had a deep feeling that she was going to die.  I told her through the nurse translating for us, that this sounded something spiritual was going on.  We asked her if she is part of church and she said she was part of an evangelical church and that she was planning to accept Christ as her Savior tomorrow.  My nurse asked her if she would like to accept Christ right now.  She agreed.  I led her in a prayer of salvation in Spanish which she repeated after me, I prayed for her physical symptoms, and I felt that God was doing a real work in her.  We gave her a Spanish Bible and she said that she could read in Spanish.  I recommended she start reading the Gospel of John and I underlined a couple verses for her in Romans:

“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”--Romans 10:9-10 (ESV)

So what does this have to do with cell phones?  As you can see that in her belt, she is packing a cellphone.  She gave me her WhatsApp contact and I told her that my wife will follow up with her.  I hope and pray that the church that she mentioned is a healthy, Bible-believing church that will teach, encourage, and disciple her.  However, as I mentioned earlier in week, there is a lot of what we can call spiritual abuse in the name of Christianity in Guatemala and not all of the churches are healthy.

Thank you for all who have prayed for me and my family as we have been serving the Lord separately.  I am trusting I will make it back to my house tonight without trouble.  God has answered all of the prayer requests that I posted on the Fourth of July.  May all the glory go to Him.

I will sign out for now.  I’m not sure my next visit will be, but I hope we can all go as a family very soon, for a longer period of time.
