Saturday 30 January 2010
We’re already a month into year. Several months ago, I was praying and reflecting on what 2010 will bring. Thinking back over the recent years, I came up with the following themes:
2007 “Perfection” Seven is the number of completion and perfection in the Bible. During 2007, we saw the perfect plan of God for our lives. I finished residency. We were married on 7-7-07, not because we planned it that way, but because it fell on the first Saturday after my graduation.
2008 “Work” Most of 2008 was filled with Areli doing her internship and graduating from her program, while I traveled back and forth to Michigan to work.
2009 “Suffering” See the previous post for a detailed description of this.
2010 “Paz y Fuego” (Peace and Fire) Several months ago, God gave me this as the theme of 2010. I still don’t know all of the details but it will make more sense by the end of the year. I felt this would be a year of peace--not that we won’t have trials and difficulties, but that God guide us through them in peace. What does “fire” mean. I believe this refers both to the refiner’s fire that will continue to shape us and the fire of the Holy Spirit as we will see more supernatural workings of God this year.
As our first month of the year has come to an end, we have seen some of these coming to pass. We spent New Year’s Eve at a special service in Mexico City. God moved there in a very special and power way. We have continued to see God work in our personal lives, our clinics, and our church. We’re looking forward to a good year.
