Gatorade, Poweraide, and Whateveraide can be very expensive. In reality they only contain some sugars, electrolytes (sodium, potassium, and choloride), and artificial flavors and colors. Nothing special really. Because I am cheap, I have created a substitution that compares quite well with Gatorade. Check it out:

Recipe
1 cup sugar
3/4 tsp salt
1/6 tsp salt substitute (Nu-Salt)
2 packs Koolaid or other drink mix
Mix with water to fill a 1 gallon milk jug
Shake the jug vigorously (make sure the cap is on tight)
Tips:
1) Use a funnel to get everything into the jug.
2) You can prepare multiple batches by mixing everthing except the drink mix in a ziplock bag. (If you mix in the drink mix, it will clump)
3) I like Koolaid orange, grape, and lemon-lime the best. Also, GreatValue Lemonade from WalMart is very good. I don't like the Koolaid lemonade or lemonade combos very much. Try some and see what you like.
